Sharon’s talent for acting comes in that she has great mimicry and impersonation skills – hearing a silly voice or seeing a frivolous walk means the character will eventually make its way into Sharon’s repertoire. Sharon has performed stand up comedy, taking part in Gilded Balloon's 'SO YOU THINK YOU'RE FUNNY' regional final, is fully competent and experienced at the monologue, and has great comic timing. She is also skilled in comedy physicality and is willing to look as ghastly as possible to bring a character to life! She has appeared in the sit com pilot, MY LIFE, a slice of life filmed in the same mode as The Royle Family or Early Doors. MY LIFE was part of its producing company’s, Kattaran Films, presentation collection to Talk Back Productions. Sharon has previously been cast as, including, a Witch in the Scottish Play'; a Victorian Lady of the Realm; an Amazonian warrior; an Edwardian homemaker and a Chorus (played all by herself!). She even played Jennifer Aniston is a short film spoof of Friends. As well as recently working for the BBC in corporate training films and performing with the region's foremost spoken word performance company, New Word Order, Sharon has performed Voiceovers for educational CD’s, the descriptive audio for the CLAIM TO FAME exhibition at Sunderland Museum & Winter Gardens, featuring paintings from the National Portrait Gallery. As well as having been a regular panel member on the live radio phone in show, Mike Parr’s MID MORNING ZOO on BBC Radio Newcastle, additionally job shadowing there and sitting alongside Paul Wappat for the Big Blue Bus Show with Paul and Ian. Sharon
is a full member of the actors’ union, Equity, and is annually

Winning prizes at school for her stories, to graduating and setting the goal of short stories through to playwright and screenshort writer, Sharon is able to create a story from anything. She is the writer in residence for CET, a production company based in the North East of England, and has been for the last seven years. Her work for them is specifically tailored for their needs and productions. As CET began in Community Theatre, touring to schools and youth groups via drama workshops, Sharon’s first play for them was an educational pantomime based on the local Geordie legend of THE LAMBTON WORM. Fringe Theatre is where Sharon’s work came to the fore, with CET’s first Fringe production, NIGHTS OUT. As her work received recognition, collaborators and supporters came pouring in, particularly working with BBC Resources Ltd. Comedy is Sharon’s speciality as she finds dialogue, particularly everyday speech, easy to lay down. This is due to finding her own rhythm for lines and comedy. Without rhythm the world wouldn’t go round! She knows what works and sounds right and what doesn’t. But her philosophy is simple – as long as she finds a level of humour in her work, others should be able to follow suit. Sharon wrote a travelogue ONE GEORDIE, LOTS OF PIES AND A BIG APPLE, a humorous, witty account of a single woman's escapades in New York which was published online. Sharon was short listed for the TAPS North Eastern Regional workshop. She was also a runner up in the TAPS national Comedy Writing showcase 2004. TAPS is the national organisation that seeks out potential TV writers. Sharon has just completed a run of her newest comedy, FOURS UP. |
